Precision Machining

Since 1991, Schafer Corporation has fabricated targets and target components and developed fabrication processes for the National Ignition Campaign (NIC) and High Energy Density Sciences (HEDS). Schafer's Laboratory has over 11,000 square feet of facility space with more than 5,000 square feet currently devoted to laboratories. Schafer operates laboratories devoted to precision assembly, thin polymer film fabrication, characterization, and metrology. Within this space there are class 100 work spaces for special needs. The rest of our laboratory space is class 100,000, including a characterization laboratory, two chemistry laboratories for materials synthesis, a laboratory for physical vapor deposition of metal coatings, and a precision machining laboratory. We also have a conventional machine shop.
