The Schafer Corporation has started work for the Department of Homeland Security’s Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support services. The start work follows award from DNDO of a Basic Purchasing Agreement and a first task order valued at approximately $40M and covering 2 ½ years, including options. Schafer will provide scientific, engineering and operations support to all DNDO Directorates and DNDO Headquarters. “We are proud to have been selected to support DNDO in its critical mission of preventing nuclear weapons and components as well as radiological threat materials from entering the United States and territories” commented Tony Frederickson, Schafer’s CEO.

The DNDO award adds to a Schafer strategic focus in combating the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Schafer activity in this area also includes scientific and engineering services contributions to intelligence assessments of WMD proliferation, missile defense, defeat of prospective adversaries’ WMD capabilities and advanced WMD effects mitigation.
