In 1998 Schafer Corporation expanded its technology management expertise beyond its core ballistic missile, laboratory and directed energy business by purchasing the contracts and processes of what is today Schafer's Technology Management Division (TMD). In the intervening years Schafer has applied it's proven scientific and program management expertise to create a world-class technology consulting capability.
 This expertise has been applied to groundbreaking programs at Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Office of Naval Research (ONR), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Naval Sea Systems Command, and National Institute of Standards and Technology.
