Divinyl Benzene (DVB) is an open cell foam system that has a one to three micron cell size, is composed solely of carbon and hydrogen, and can be cast at densities as low as 10 mg/cc. Schafer has the capability to microencapsulate DVB to produce hollow foam shells with Inertial Fusion Energy applications. Shells with dimensions of a 4 mm OD and a 300 micron wall thickness at 50 and 100 mg/cc are currently being produced with the flexibility to produce other dimensions and densities. |
