Dear Mr. Sherrill,
It is my pleasure to commend you for the excellent service you provided to THAAD Project Office during the preparation for and execution of Roving Sands '97.
During the many phases of preparing for and executing Roving Sands '97, your actions supporting BM/C3I issues were indispensable. Your expertise did not go unnoticed in helping to plan for the delivery and interoperability of THAAD software and hardware in the Air and Missile Defense Task Force and work through the myriad of support issues that brought this exercise together.
As an expert in the BM/C3I area, your assistance with software and communications issues was critical to the overall success of the mission. I know that this has been no small feat, and you personally supported the difficult timelines in the past year quickly, efficiently, and with a "Can Do" attitude. Your assistance coordinating support from the National Guard, representing the BMC/3I Product Office at VTCs and meetings, and as the BMC/3I briefer during readiness reviews was outstanding.
During the execution of the FTX and Task Force demonstration, it was noted numerous times that you had put in the time and expertise necessary to ensure the overall success of the THAAD hardware and software on the battlefield. I believe that all of us that viewed the execution of the mission at Fort Bliss left with a certainty that the interoperability of THAAD was directly attributable to your efforts.
I personally commend you for a job well done and on behalf of the THAAD Project Office, I commend you for your dedication to duty. Your proficient actions, devotion to the completion of the mission, and professionalism reflect great credit upon yourself and Schafer, the THAAD Project Office, and the PEO-AMD.
Sincerely,
Louis P. Deeter
