Haber President Schafer Corporation 321 Billerica Road Chelmsford, MA 01824-4190 Dear Mr. Haber, I am writing on behalf of those of us at TRW who worked with your staff on the CD-ROM "Lasers for Defense". This CD-ROM is a major marketing piece for TRW's High Energy Laser Product Line and feedback from all quarters has been enthusistic. There is great satisfaction that we have published this product. Rob Linnenkohl, who led the Schafer team, was a delight to work with and exceptionally professional. This product would have been very different and less satisfactory without his efforts. We were especially impressed with how easily we worked between California and your Washington D.C. office using today's communication tools. I don't think there was any difference in how the product was put together or the effort required to do so than if we had been co-located. It was clearly beyond our expectations that frequently at the end of the day in California we could still reach Rob at his office three hours after the end of your business day. TRW has some pretty definite ideas about the look and feel of our marketing products. With very little specific direction, Rob was able to understand our desires and take considerable control of the overall design and specific graphics of the product, fully satisfying those desires. This could have been a very difficult aspect of the project since a very diverse, large group at TRW had to review and approve the final product for release. If anything, Rob had a better eye for detail and was more demanding about the quality of video, audio, andgraphics which were incorporated. Again, he was able to work remotely with our video editors as well as if he had been in our studios. Technically, it proved challenging to develop such a complex product so that it ran smoothly on all of today's versions of PCs and Macs. As each bug was discovered, Rob was able to identify it and provide a solution. As a result, the product runs smoothly on any machine configured according to the specifications in the CD-ROM instructions. We delberately targeted the product for relatively new machines, knowing in advance that we were going to be pushing the envelope. Clearly Rob and Schafer took every step to assure our receiving a quality product, down to every last production and shipping detail, and it shows.
